Moldova: Dreaming of a better life

The goal of these series of stories is to create an in-depth view of what are the current issues Moldova has to deal with. Political instability, migration, remittances, kids without parents, human trafficking are just a few of the things you come a cross in Moldova.

Journalist Emiel Elgersma spend 2 weeks in Moldova trying to understand the country, the people and their problems.

The reason for choosing Moldova to do an investigation was because of the demonstrations after the parliamentary elections in April this year. He missed in almost all the articles published those in-depth analysis what is wrong with the country.

So he decided to do it himself. The articles, pictures and audio  are all product of Emiels final exam of his journalism education. He spend his final year in Utrecht, The Netherlands and Arhus, Denmark, focussing on the European Union and foreign reporting.
